How To Be Free From The Things That Weigh You Down

How free are you? This is a question that isn't asked often, if ever, but one that we should be asking ourselves every so often if we value our overall health and wellbeing.

(I originally wrote and shared this in February 2017, but two years later in 2019 know that this is a needed reminder for someone out there)

What weighs you down? What distracting thoughts, ideas or worries linger in your mind every day or have persisted over a period of time? These are typically issues that aren’t resolved but desperately need to be for the sake of your overall wellbeing and those around you. Confronting an issue, especially if its people-related, can be challenging, but the payoff is well-worth getting temporarily uncomfortable.

Until you decide to put the things that should end to an end, you’ll miss out on how free you really can be.

I know what it feels like to be bogged down, and the nagging feeling that seems to suck the joy right out of you. I’ve also had my fair share of uncomfortable conversations with other people, and myself, alongside persistent prayer and faith in action, in order to get free of those things that could easily have driven me completely crazy or compromised my wellbeing and quality of life.

Be both brave and mature enough to have tough talks if there is someone (or multiple people) you should have a conversation with, and be willing to make changes to relationships or lifestyle habits in order to stay free of the things that weigh you down. Be resolute on what you will and won't allow to take up space in your mind. Ultimately, we are the doorkeepers to what we let in our lives.

"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life."

Remember, time is life, and life is short, so live it well.

Be encouraged!
